DigiCastle is a font that merges two drastically different type styles: ancient medieval blackletter typography, and 8-bit typography. To create this typeface, old blackletter fonts such as Canterbury, Blackletter, and Old England were smashed together with the typography from 8-bit video games of the 1980s such as Super Mario Bros 3, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, and Mega Man 2. By combining these two different styles, the font retains the detail of highly ornamented blackletter type, while breaking down those ornaments to the most essential parts. With equal cap-heights and widths, this font can be used practically, or decoratively to portray various different meanings. This font is imagined to be used for a medieval themed 8-bit game, using this font within the titles and stories, however, this font may be put to use in many versatile ways, depending on the designer who chooses to use it. This font strives to combine the new and the old through it
